Disneyland, September 1961

Jumat, 29 Agustus 2008 0 komentar

This one day series takes us back to September 1961, before the 60’s got mod and the guests at the park still looked like they belonged in the 50’s. The first three shots are all from the Autopia area; after looking at shot #3, I know why this Dwarf became Grumpy!

It’s blurry, but I do love seeing shots of the not-so-often photographed Yellow Monorail, especially with the cool bubble viewing area featured!

Back when it had holes in it for the Skyway, the Matterhorn served as the transitional bridge between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.

This little girl is ready for her Teacup ride!

This little boy is determined to get every little kernel of popcorn out of that box...or else he’s looking for a hidden toy surprise (wrong snack, kid!)

Disneyland, October 1969

October 1969, and Downtown Disney/DCA is not even a glimmer in anyone’s mind. A vast asphalt paradise awaits Disneyand guests on the Disneyland Tram as they leave the comfort of their classic car for a day in the park. Once at the entrance, guests are greeted by the yellow Monorail as well as some fun attraction posters.

Inside the park, guests can lose their cares at the INA Carefree Corner on Main Street with Song of the South’s Brer Bear:

This shot shows the majestic Matterhorn with a glimpse of the "new" Tomorrowland...and what appears to be a dress of the future on that young blonde walking our way!

The Rocket Jets & PeopleMover are humming along, adding movement and fun to Tomorrowland...exactly in the location they belong.

HUUUGE shout out to all the comments from readers yesterday who helped identify the souvenir Jungle Cruise boat (especially Matterhorn!). I really appreciate the commentary on here, as it makes me feel that my efforts here are not lost. Many thanks! See more vintage & current Disneyland photos at my regular website.

Clock of the World, April 1958

This is definitely one of the better shots of the Clock of the World that I have. Great view of the sun & moon at top, with a very hip retro looking couple posing in front. In addition, I am throwing in this shot of the Monorail & station from April 1965. Nice picture, but I also noticed what appears to be a G and a D graphic element in the Submarine Voyage sign. Anyone know what that is all about?
