I may not know the year, but thanks to the patriotic bunting in Town Square, I know it must be summer! Here is my favorite Main Street transportation, The Omnibus, ready to take another load of guests down to the Castle.

Over in Tomorrowland in front of the Art Corner, The Spaceman doesn’t seem too thrilled to be posing with this trio of kiddies; maybe it’s the end of his shift.



Here we are soaring over Fantasyland in a Skyway bucket; hey guests & cast members below, watch out for spitwads from above!



And just like yesterday, today’s last stop shows one of the teepees in the Indian Village:

It may not be a significant day to you, but for this group of guests, it sure was a day of fun and smiles. In shot #1, this guest is so awed to be standing in front of Walt's personal Autopia car that he takes his hat off in respect. In the background, you can see the entrance to the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea movie prop exhibit.

In shot #2, she doesn't give a hoot about cars and motors; she just wants to show off the still very young landscaping.



Over at the Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship, you can almost reach out and grab this man’s guide book!



Last stop for today is one of the teepees in the Indian Village with Fort Wilderness in the background:

Still in Frontierland, here are 2 similar pre-opening shots of the original Indian Village location. Within a year from opening, the Indian Village moved and became Magnolia Park, home to the oft-moved bandstand.

Today is another glimpse of Frontierland before it opened. This area probably will look unfamiliar to many as the landscape has changed a great deal in 50 years. The thatched roof belongs to the Aunt Jemima restaurant, which now is the Riverbelle Terrace. The teepees show the original area that the Indian Village occupied before it was moved to the area now known as Critter Country. I have also included a detail shot of the signage, just for all the other signage geeks like me.

Last call for February 1971! We finish out the series in Frontierland again. Plenty to see and do here! Let’s begin with a few shots of the Ceremonial Dance Circle of the Indian Village. Note the Keelboat and Canoe in the background of shot #1.



I have a number of shots like this, spanning the decades, and they always make me happy. I think it’s so cool to see little kids enjoying a cultural learning experience...one that doesn’t require a computer, ipod, or TV. Oh yeah, and dig the crazy ponchos!



The sun is setting over at the Indian Village, so we must bid a fond farewell and keep moving with our tour.



Anybody want a used piano? But seriously folks...anyone know about this player piano and whether it’s still around?



Ah, another lost waterfall...Cascade Peak. Can you hear the water rushing?

Pt. 2 is a step back in time, as we linger in the rustic part of Anaheim known as Frontierland. The Conestoga Wagon has gotten off to a thunderous start in photo #1. Well, maybe not thunderous, but it is moving forward. In shot #2, you can view the dock for Tom Sawyer’s Island, where you can get on a raft and cruise on over to see Tom & Becky. The umbrellas you see on the left are for the Chicken Plantation Restaurant.



Another Ceremonial Dance is entertaining the crowds at the Indian Village:



Last one for today shows the Columbia, ready for another trip around the Rivers of America. The Dixieland Bandstand is still drawing the crowds in near the Silver Banjo BBQ:

These slides probably would have never made it to this blog other than a detail I noticed last night as I was scanning them. At first, when I scanned this slide from February 1960, I dismissed the structure at the top as some kind of teepee or shelter, but when I zoomed in, I could see a steel frame. I could hazard a guess (say, New Orleans Square/Pirates Building or The Haunted Mansion), but I’ll leave that up to the experts out there.

This slide is also from the same Feb. 1960 batch.



The next three are from July 1961, and show the legendary Indian Village, Teepees (complete with signage!), and the Ceremonial Dance Circle.








This last shot is from July 1968 and shows the “new” Indian Village complete with amphitheater that the Major mentioned recently on his blog.
